Airlines waive penalties as storm moves in
Several U.S. airlines have said they will waive fees for changing reservations and fare increases for passengers affected by winter storms.
They included JetBlue Airways Corp., Delta Air Lines and Continental, Newsday reported. Other airlines are expected to make similar moves. The JetBlue waiver was for passengers traveling to and from its major hub at Kennedy International Airport in New York as well as Boston, Buffalo, Newark, N.J., and other airports in New York and New England, hit by a winter storm expected to last through the weekend. Continental's waiver mostly affects travelers to and from Newark. The waivers, extending through Tuesday, allow passengers to rebook flights without penalty. A winter storm brought snow, ice, sleet and freezing rain to much of the mid-Atlantic region and New England Thursday. Airlines have been under fire for allowing loaded planes to sit on runways for hours during bad weather. // Copyright 2007 by United Press International Publication date: 14 December 2007 Source: Archive
