Authorities are investigating the cause of a house fire in New Jersey early Wednesday morning that killed four family members from three generations.

The fire that killed a 14-year-old girl, her parents, and her grandmother erupted about 2:30 a.m. at the Aguas family home in Union Township, about 10 miles southwest of Newark, The New York Times reported.

A fifth family member survived the blaze by jumping out of a window and is currently in the

hospital, authorities said.

It was still unclear what caused the fire, but the authorities said it did not appear to be suspicious, the newspaper reported.

Friends and neighbors said the family was known for their summer parties. The family was involved in the local Bayanihan club, a Filipino-American civic and social group.

"This was a wonderful family," said Pauline Pazas, 55, who described the father as "the perfect neighbor."  // Copyright 2007 by United Press International
