Fortune teller allegedly cheated client
Prosecutors in San Jose, Calif., accused a fortune teller of cheating a woman out of $445,000 by telling her she needed to pay to end a curse.
Lola Miller, also known as Donna Miller and Miss Donna, is accused of extorting $350,000 in cash and $95,000 in goods and services from the woman over the course of seven months, beginning in August 2004, the San Francisco Chronicle reported Tuesday. Deputy District Attorney Stan Voyles said Miller told the woman that she and members of her family where under a curse and needed to pay the hefty sum to purify herself of evil. Voyles said Miller was convicted on similar charges several years ago in San Francisco. Miller is due in court to set a preliminary hearing Dec. 5. // Copyright 2007 by United Press International Publication date: 27 November 2007 Source: Archive
