Holloway death suspect detained in Aruba
A judge in Aruba Monday granted the prosecution's request to detain a suspect several more days in the death of Alabama teenager Natalee Holloway.
Chief suspect Joran van der Sloot and brothers Deepak and Satish Kalpoe were arrested after police used wiretaps to record a conversation between the three men that may implicate them in Holloway's death, ABC's "Good Morning America" reported Monday. Van der Sloot, son of an Aruban judge, was attending college in the Netherlands when a Dutch court approved his transfer to Aruba, a Dutch territory, to face charges. A police escort accompanied van der Sloot on the flight Friday to Aruba. The men are charged with "involvement in the voluntary manslaughter ... or causing serious bodily harm to Natalee Holloway, resulting in her death," documents showed. Hans Mos, Aruba's chief prosecutor, said his office has enough evidence to prove Natalee Holloway is dead, even if remains are never found. Aruban law doesn't require a body to prove someone is dead. "There's no doubt in my mind that she's dead," Mos said. "I think we have enough evidence to prove the girl is not alive anymore, even without a body." // Copyright 2007 by United Press International Publication date: 27 November 2007 Source: Archive
