Feds investigate trucking firm in death
Federal investigators are investigating a Michigan trucking company linked to an accident on Interstate 43 in Wisconsin that left one person dead.
The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Department said Dr. Krishna Chintamaneni, 55, of Mequon, Wis., was killed last week when his car was struck by a wheel that came loose from a semitrailer owned by Holmes QST Inc. of Port Huron, Mich. Truck driver Carl DeSantos allegedly has several speeding violations on his record, investigators told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. Police said it appears the trucking company has performed poorly in roadside inspections and that the firm's drivers have been ordered off the road for rules violations more than twice as often as the average trucker. The truck may have been leased from another Michigan firm, C.K.C. Trucking, the newspaper said. // Copyright 2007 by United Press International Publication date: 15 November 2007 Source: Archive
