Moldova has lost four ECHR files more
Seven citizens won the processes intended to the Moldovan Government at the European Court of Human Rights. Moldova should pay to these citizens 22 thousand Euros, DECA-press agency transmits.
The first file was intended by Mihail Cebotari, ex-manager of the state enterprise „Moldtranselectro”. The latter was accused of having asked the Government of Moldova to send a nominal obligation to SRL „Oferta Plus” in which the state institutions had to pay for the electricity 20 million lei. The legislators thought the institutions did not consume so much. Several months Mihail Cebotari was kept under arrest, then he was released on bail, and at the end he was found not guilty. ECHR declared that there were no reasons to keep Mihai Cebotari under arrest. They stated that the prisoner was not allowed to have private meetings with his lawyer. The Government will have to pay 10 thousand euros as moral damage, and 2,5 thousand euros as trial expenses. In other files, Moldova will have to pay to a citizen 4101 euros on the motive that he lost a part from the money he invested in the bank „Banca de Economii” because of the inflation. Another citizen should be given 4437 euros for not respecting the verdict given in a trial. Three citizens should be given one thousand euros for having been unjustly disconnected from the gas pipe. // DECA-Press Publication date: 15 November 2007 Source: Archive
