At least one person was injured Wednesday when a section of a glass atrium roof collapsed at an Embassy Suites hotel north of Baltimore.

Baltimore County fire officials said the collapse occurred about 2 p.m. The section that collapsed fell eight stories, while another section of the glass roof remained in place but was cracked, WBAL-TV reported.

Officials said no one was injured directly by the collapse, but one person suffered minor injuries running from the scene. The hotel -- which has 220 rooms and had more than 130 guests registered at the time of the collapse -- was evacuated.

After the Baltimore County building inspector and crews from Baltimore Gas and Electric Co. evaluated the structural integrity of the building, it was declared unsafe for occupancy, WBAL said.
