Day 11: Still no verdict in Spector trial

The jury in Phil Spector’s Los Angeles murder trial ended its 11th day of deliberations Tuesday unable to reach a verdict, the Los Angeles Times said.

The rock music producer is charged in the shooting death of Lana Clarkson, a 40-year-old, struggling actress who was found dead from a gunshot wound in Spector's Los Angeles-area mansion on Feb. 3, 2003.

Prosecutors argued Spector has a history of threatening women with guns and contend that he shot Clarkson when she tried to leave his house. His defense team maintains that Clarkson accidentally shot herself.

If convicted of second-degree murder, Spector could be sentenced to life in prison.  // Copyright 2007 by United Press International
