Newspaper helps reunite boy with his birdA 7-year-old Bethpage, N.Y., boy has been reunited with his pet finch three weeks after it disappeared, with an assist from New York Newsday. The Long Island newspaper had featured a photograph of the bird Friday after learning from one of the boy's neighbors that the bird had been taking advantage of birdfeeders on the neighbor's property. After seeing his bird on the cover of Friday's Newsday, Cunha knew where to look and soon the pair was back together. Cunha's father, Antonio Cunha, said the experience was like a miracle come true for the boy and his bird.
In a striking coincidence, the neighbor named the bird Rainbow -- the same name 7-year-old Marco Cunha had chosen for the finch. Copyright 2007 by United Press InternationalPublication date: 13 August 2007 Source: UPI-1-20070812-18394800-bc-us-birdhome.xml Archive
