Two parties will commemorate the former political prisoner Gheorghe Ghimpu

The Liberal and the Romanian National Parties, in common with the Library „Onisifor Ghibu”, will commemorate the former deputy and political prisoner, Gheorghe Ghimpu, DECA-press Agency informs.

In the Library’s building, the two parties will organize a symposium on the topic „In memoriam Gheorghe Ghimpu. Anticommunist fights to defend the national values promoted by Gheorghe Ghimpu as European values”. The event will be held on July 26th, on the day Gheorghe Ghimpu could celebrate his 70th anniversary (he died a few years ago as a result of a serious car accident).

The symposium, which will take place at 3 p.m., will be preceded by an exhibition in the memory of Gheorghe Ghimpu (at 2 p.m.).

Gheorghe Ghimpu was the member of a family where some current politicians come from. They are as follows: Mihai Ghimpu, the leader of the Liberal Party, Dorin Chirtoaca, general mayor of Chisinau, Viorel Ghimpu, leader of the European Party. // DECA-Press
