Authorities in Britain are expressing a need to crack down on what British Terror Minister Alan West called jihadists who influence young Britons.

West said it will be a daunting task to reverse the radicalization in the fight against terror, the BBC reported.

"We're talking about such a big change in the way people behave that it's inevitably going to take 10 to 15 years, and that's if we're lucky, and that's what I hope we can achieve," West told the BBC. "I think it would be wrong to pretend otherwise to the British nation."

British Prime Minister Gordon Brown called the issue urgent, saying Britain needs to expand its security watch list to gain a better idea of who is entering the country and who may be influencing Britons from the outside, the BBC reported. // Copyright 2007 by United Press International
