Disneyland restaurant not easy to get into

Exclusivity has a whole new meaning at Disneyland's Club 33 in California, where waiting for a membership takes years -- if you're lucky to get on the list.

One applicant has been on restaurant's waiting list since 2001. Another recently learned the list is so full he can't even get on it. The nine-year waiting list is capped at 1,000 people.

But things may loosen up, the Los Angeles Times reported Thursday. Disneyland officials said they plan to rearrange some tables to add seating to the members-only restaurant identifiable only by a green door with the address. The membership, which stands at about 487, could increase to 500.

The club, created by Walt Disney as a place where he could entertain investors and business associates, didn't open until 1967, after his death.

Reservations -- made weeks in advance -- include access to Disneyland for the day for those in the member's party. Other perks include tours and invitations to holiday events.

"Because the club is for members and their guests only, our cast knows individual preferences at a level that is truly unique," said Mary Niven, Disneyland Resort's vice president of food and beverage. // Copyright 2007 by United Press International
