ASAC received permission of Iraqi aviation authority to investigate airplane crash nearby Baghdad
The State Civil Aviation Administration received the permission of Iraqi aviation authority to investigate the causes that triggered the airplane crash nearby Baghdad on January 9.
Asked by BASA-press, Roman Potcoratov, ASAC councilor, confirmed that the representatives of the organization had received the official permission to directly participate in the investigation of the causes of the AN-26 airplane crash, registration no.ER-26068. "A team of experts will be soon established to investigate the situation in the place of accident. Technically, we have all the necessary equipment to carry out the investigation", said Potcoratov. The cited source added that the corpses of crewmembers Anatolie Seflediuc (47 years old), Grigore Ciupricov (53 years old), Petru Sarbu (36 years old), Sergiu Mastalear (31 years old, holder of Moldovan and Ukrainian citizenship), and Alexei Ganja (29 years old, holder of Moldovan and Russian citizenship), which are still in Turkey (Adana), will be brought to Chisinau as early as at the end of this week on grounds that not all the victims have been identified yet. Moldovan airplane belonging to "Aerian-Tur M" company, which was carrying out a flight between Adana (Turkey) - Balad (80 km to the north of Baghdad, Iraq) crashed on 9 January 2007, around lunchtime (12.00, Moldova's time). As a result of the impact, 34 people, five of which were Moldovan citizens, were killed and a Turkish citizen remained alive. Although the pilot tried to land for two times, his attempts failed.
