Residents of Columbus, Ohio, whose attempt to break the world record for the largest potluck failed said they at least were able to enjoy full stomachs.

Columbus resident Miriam Bowers Abbott, who organized the failed record attempt, said despite falling nearly 120 casseroles short of the record, participants were able to enjoy the fruits of their labor this weekend, The Columbus (Ohio) Dispatch said Monday.

The nice thing about this is, even if we failed, the food was good, Abbot said of Sunday's event.

Guinness World Records had informed Abbott that 602 separate culinary dishes would be needed to set a world record for the largest potluck event.

Participant Katie Swett told the Dispatch despite not earning the record, the food helped fill everyone's stomach and allowed for donations to the Church World Service humanitarian organization.

We just like potlucks anyway, Swett said. We're big eaters.
