A friend or coworker is pushing you over the edge today -- even though you know perfectly well that they don't mean anything serious. Just take a deep breath and let them make a fool of themselves.

United States donates medical equipment to Transdniestrian hospitals

The hospitals in the Transdniestrian region have received medical equipment and supplies from the U.S. Government as part of the Operation Provide Hope (OPH) project.

According to a communique from the U.S. Embassy in Chisinau, through Operation Provide Hope, the U.S. is providing 21.7 million dollars worth of medical equipment and supplies to medical facilities in Tiraspol, Slobozia, Balti, Cahul and Chisinau. It has taken 100 trucks to carry the 500 thousand kilograms of medical equipment and supplies into the country.

To ensure that each hospital receives the equipment and supplies it most needs, a team from the United States traveled throughout Moldova for several weeks last January to consult with doctors and health officials.

After many months of planning, the first of these critically needed supplies arrived in Moldova on August 21. Last week, twenty-two truckloads of supplies were delivered to Tiraspol. These supplies are being shared among the Tiraspol Clinical Hospital, the District Hospital of Slobozia, and the Veteran's Hospital of Tiraspol.

Examples of the equipment being provided include monitoring equipment for intensive care, X-ray and film processing equipment, anesthesia machines, sterilization equipment, and bandages, linens, and needles.

OPH team members will install equipment, while others will train Moldovan medical workers how to use and maintain the equipment.

This is the third and the biggest OPH project for Moldova. The first two, in 1994 and 2000, also provided medical equipment and supplies.//REPORTER.MD
