Bode Miller Takes On New Zealand

OnTheSnow - The mellow lakeside town of Wanaka on South Island is home to some big names this week as the world’s elite descend upon Treble Cone ski area for some serious race training.

Bode Miller is on course this week with his coaches Forest Carey and Craig Daniels and enjoying the impeccable conditions as the snow fell on his second day. The World Cup champion and Olympic medalist is training at Treble Cone as part of his race program until Aug. 20. The summer training for Miller is more relaxed with plenty of down time to enjoy the region's famous golfing courses.

The competition heated up on Tuesday Aug. 12 as the Austrian Men's Ski Team with head coaches Tony Giger and Jergen Kriechbaum arrived to commence their team's week-long training at Treble Cone before heading north to Mt. Hutt where the race training will continue for another week.

Treble Cone is a Mecca for Winter Olympic enthusiasts wishing to celebrity spot, with the Austrian Women's team training alongside the Norwegian Men's and German and American teams. Swedish freeskier turned racer, Jon Olsson, is also utilising Treble Cone’s international standard terrain.

Snowboarding guru, Jake Burton, was recently seen on the Treble Cone slopes enjoying some turns, while tennis legend Andre Agassi has been heli skiing in the region in the past week. // onthesnow.com
