Transdniestria flood victims could receive aid from Moldovan Government
The Government of Moldova is ready to provide aid to the Transdniestria residents affected by floods. First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Dodon said the executive sent a letter to the Transdniestrian authorities, offering aid to the flood victims.
Dodon said that many settlements in the Transdniestrian region have been affected by floods and the number of damaged houses is higher than on the right bank of the Dniester. A sum of 4.4 million lei has been collected in the account specially opened for flood victims by August 6. According to the Agency for Material Reserves, Public Acquisitions and Humanitarian Aid, the population and economic entities have donated 31.4 tonnes of humanitarian aid, which is to be distributed to the victims of floods. To date, Moldova received humanitarian aid from the Czech Republic, Turkey, Austria, Russia, the U.S. Embassy, Estonia, Lithuania, France, UNICEF, the Red Cross.//REPORTER.MD Publication date: 07 August 2008 Source: Archive

A Sydney architectural firm suggests converting some of the area's 360,000 swimming pools into mother-in-law apartments -- draining them first.Nobbs Radford Architects' proposal was the runner-up in the Architecture Australia Prize for Unbuilt Work, The Sydney Morning Herald reported.
