Transdniestria’s flood-related losses at US$13.5m
The losses sustained by Transdniestria as a result of floods are estimated at US$13.5 million According to the Transdniestrian authorities, about 800 houses have been flooded in the region overall. Three of these have been completely destroyed. About 1,800 people have been evacuated.
No casualties have been reported in Transdniestria. Almost all the cereals have been harvested. The situation in the region returns to normal. The water level in Camenca district fell two meters, while in Rabnita district – 26 centimeters. Converted swimming pools for new housing?
A Sydney architectural firm suggests converting some of the area's 360,000 swimming pools into mother-in-law apartments -- draining them first.Nobbs Radford Architects' proposal was the runner-up in the Architecture Australia Prize for Unbuilt Work, The Sydney Morning Herald reported.
