Corruption combating in Moldova at “satisfactory” level
The activities aimed at combating corruption in Moldova carried out in the past three months have slightly improved the situation, the second quarterly monitoring report presented by the Anticorruption Alliance said.
The report says that despite progress in certain areas, there is still a lot of work to do. The Guidebook of Passing Judgments has not been worked out yet. There is no proper strategy for financing the legal system and the number of courtrooms is low. Mircea Esanu, the secretary of the Anticorruption Alliance, said that the Alliance made a number of recommendations for the Ministry of Justice such as to increase the number of courtrooms and of judges in district courts. But many of them have not been accepted. According to the report, the lack of access to information is one of the major shortcomings in the fiscal area. Also, the quality of the provided information and of the websites is poor.//REPORTER.MD Publication date: 01 August 2008 Source: Archive
