Bessarabian Metropolitan Church says it is open for dialogue with priests that seek His Holiness Petru’s resignation

“The Bessarabian Metropolitan Church is ready to discuss with any clergyman, but does not recognize the pressure and protest as a form of discussion,” the Church says in a statement.

His Holiness Metropolitan Bishop Petru has repeatedly discussed with the dissatisfied priests, who demanded that he resign, but all in vain because they had a violent behavior and imposed irrelevant demands.

The Metropolitan Church expressed its regret that the discontented priests did not keep their promise to choose three representatives for discussions, as agreed on July 15, in order to jointly identify the problems that must be solved.

The statement also says that the Bessarabian Metropolitan Church and His Holiness Petru do not carry out political activities and will not admit and tolerate in the future political fights inside the Church. “The Bessarabian Church includes faithful people that have different political preferences and beliefs and can be members of different political parties,” the statement reads.

On July 8, 44 priests of the Bessarabian Metropolitan Church issued a statement demanding that His Holiness Metropolitan Bishop of Bessarabia Petru resign and that the Metropolitan Church is freed from the influence of any political party.//REPORTER.MD
