Postal services provided by Moldova’s Post Office will be by 17% more expensive
The prices of the internal postal services provided by Moldova’s Post Office will be raised by 17% as from September 1. The Government made such a decision in order to adjust the prices to the company’s expenses.
Minister of Information Development Pavel Buceatchi said that the new tariffs have been calculated in accordance with the Convention of the Universal Postal Union. The profitability is 10% on average. Buceatchi also said that the 50% reduction on the printed matter sent to libraries and publishing houses that print periodicals for children will be kept. According to the Ministry of Information Development, the state-owned company Moldova’s Post Office in 2007 sustained losses of about 11 million lei. When the tariffs are adjusted, the company will reduce its losses by about 7 million lei. Moldova’s Post Office was founded on April 1, 1993. Presently, the company provides universal postal services all over the country. It administers a network of 1,148 post offices through 36 branches.//REPORTER.MD Publication date: 23 July 2008 Source: Archive
