Sportspersons that will win medals at Beijing Olympics will receive prizes of up to 70,000 euros
The Moldovan sportspersons that will win medals at the 29th edition of the Olympic Games in Beijing and at the 13th edition of the Beijing Paralympics will receive money awards of up to 70,000 euros. Similar prizes will be offered to the trainers of the winners.
Such a decision was made by the Government on Wednesday with the aim of stimulating the sportsmen and their trainers that promote Moldova’s image abroad. Under the decision, the winners of gold medals will be awarded 70,000 euros, silver medals – 50,000 euros, and bronze medals – 30,000 euros. The sportsmen that will take the fourth-eighth positions will be also awarded: 15,000 euros for the fourth position, 10,000 euros for the fifth position, 5,000, 3,000 and 1,000 euros for the sixth, seventh and eighth positions respectively. The doctors that will accompany the Olympic sportsmen will be awarded prizes worth 20% of the sportsperson’s prize. The money awards will not be taxed.
