Swiss people consider Moldova is in South Africa
The organizers of a tourism trade fair in Switzerland think that Moldova is situated in South Africa. They sent a letter to the Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca, inviting him to take part in the international tourism event.
At Monday’s meeting of the City Hall, Chirtoaca said that he received the invitation from the Swiss International Holiday Exhibition. The letter reads that “Moldova, with its unique historical and natural heritage, is one of the world’s most appreciated and dreamed [of] tourist destinations. In these last years, our numerous public coming from Switzerland and Northern Italy has constantly asked us about new fascinating South African resorts.” The letter also says that in order to satisfy tourists’ demands, “for the 2008 edition, we have decided to recreate the area ‘The Beauties of Moldavia’, dedicating to your marvelous country an entire pavilion.” Chirtoaca is invited to present Moldova through its traditions, customs, typical products and specialty foods and arts, embodying the values that make the country a unique paradise. The sixth edition of the tourism trade fair in Lugano will take place between October 30 and November 2.//REPORTER.MD Publication date: 21 July 2008 Source: Archive
