Prince Charles converts car for wine fuel

LONDON, July 1 (UPI) -- The office of Britain's Prince Charles says the royal has converted his 1970 Aston Martin car to run on surplus wine-based biofuel.

Clarence House, the prince's office, said Charles converted the car -- a 21st birthday present from his mother -- to consume 100 percent bioethanol to help reduce carbon emissions, CNN reported Tuesday.

The office said Charles previously converted several of his other vehicles, including an Audi and several Jaguars, to run on 100 percent biodiesel fuel derived from cooking oil.

British inventor predicts flying cars

LONDON, July 1 (UPI) -- A British inventor famous for his electric car says he believes personal flying vehicles will become a reality and change the world dramatically.

Clive Sinclair, inventor of the C5 electric vehicle, said flying cars would be economically and technically possible, The Daily Telegraph reported Tuesday.

I'm sure it will happen and I am sure it will change the world dramatically, Sinclair said.

It would need to be automatically controlled because we can't all learn to fly, he said. The vehicle would take off from your home and fly to wherever you want to go.

Sinclair said he has no plans to develop a flying car, but he would love to be involved with any project aiming to create one.

Long before the C5, and ever since, I have strongly believed in electric vehicles. I am glad to say it's all happening at long last, he said.

Woman says fake apple damaged fake breast

LAS CRUCES, N.M., July 1 (UPI) -- Police in Las Cruces, N.M., said a woman staying at a hotel claimed her surgically enhanced breast was damaged by an encounter with a plastic apple.

A police incident report said the woman told investigators that she was in pool at the La Quinta Inn when a plastic apple that was being thrown around by other hotel guests struck her in the chest, the Albuquerque Journal reported Tuesday.

The woman said she exited the pool and discovered her right breast was sinking down and to the left, the police report stated. The woman said she had undergone breast augmentation surgery about one month before the incident.

Police said no arrests were made but the woman's injury was photographed by a female officer and a plastic apple was admitted to evidence, the Journal said.

Skinny dippers caught in city reservoir

PORTLAND, Ore., July 1 (UPI) -- Authorities in Portland, Ore., said a pair of skinny dippers was cited after swimming in a city reservoir, but the water supply was not tainted.

Police said Ryan Langsdorf, 28, and Ashley Moyer, 23, were cited for trespassing after officers caught them skinny dipping in the Mount Tabor Reservoir during the weekend, The (Portland) Oregonian reported Tuesday.

However, the city Water Bureau said Reservoir 6 is split into two sections and the pool where the incident occurred was not being used at the time. Officials said the city would have shut down the system and dumped millions of gallons of water if the in-use supply had been tainted.

The Water Bureau said it plans to have the pair prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. They face a maximum penalty of a fine and community service.
