Health Ministry warns population about approaching dog days
The Ministry of Health warns the population about the coming dog days and makes recommendations for avoiding negative effects.
At a news conference on May 29, Minister of Health Larisa Catrinici said that the Ministry sent an administrative memorandum with recommendations to all the healthcare institutions of the country. Catrinici said that during summer, all the medical establishments will be provided with medicines, while the managers of institutions, organizations and companies will be urged to supply the employees with drinking water at the workplace. She said that the Ministry of Health’s call center will work round the clock and provide information and advice on 72 10 10 and 080071010. Eleonora Vatamanu, senior specialist in cardiology at the Ministry, said that the high temperatures affect mostly the children, elderly people and the persons that suffer from cardio-vascular diseases. She said that the high temperatures can also affect the healthy persons, especially those that are asthenic. She recommended drinking 2-2.5 liters of water a day and avoiding direct sunlight. Mihail Gavriliuc, senior specialist in neurology, said that the people that want to go to the seaside should consult the doctor first. He said that the prolonged exposure to the sun can harm the nervous system as the toxins eliminated in the blood increase in volume.
