School directors caught taking bribe

Two school directors were caught in the act of taking bribe. Legal action was taken in both of the cases. If found guilty of passive corruption, the directors could face 3 to 7 years behind bars.

Galina Turcan, the director of the secondary school No.35 located in Ciocana district of Chisinau, was arrested while she was taking 1,600 lei from the tutor of a student that studied in the school in Hartopul Mic village, Criuleni district. The director asked the money for organizing the transfer of the student from the village school to the general school No.35 in Chisinau.

The 54-year-old Galina Pascal, the director of the secondary school No.55 in Gratiesti village, asked 300 euros for issuing a graduation diploma for 2007 with the average mark of 8.3.

Also, the police caught a tenth grader of the Chisinau-based Mihai Viteazul High School in the act of selling a forged diploma of the Chisinau secondary school No. 70 for 500 dollars.

Constantin Misachian told the police that he, together with another two persons, was selling high school diplomas for 500 dollars. The police established that the three opened an account on the website www.webmoney.ru, to which the money for the diplomas was transferred.

The offenders are liable to fine of 6,000 lei, imprisonment of up to two years or community service // Reporter.MD
