“Night of Museums” in Chisinau

The third "Night of Museums" takes place in Chisinau on May 17. During this special night, nearly 2,000 museums from over 40 European countries will open their doors free of charge from sunset to sunrise.

On this particular occasion, as venues for exhibitions or cultural events, many museums will be transformed into a stage for theatrical performances, readings, singing, tasting sessions, and other forms of entertainment.

The National Museum of Archeology and History will organize a series of activities to celebrate this event. On May 17, the public will have free access to the Museum’s exhibitions between 12.00 and 22.00. Different activities will be held in the halls on stories and in the court of the Museum from 18.00. The program of the events includes screening of documentaries, the body art show “Mythological Symbols”, the vestimentary design show “Museums Play the Fool” and the concert “At the Museum at Night”.

On May 18, on the International Museum Day, the Museum of Archeology will inaugurate the exhibition “A World of Bells”. There will be organized mind games, workshops on experimental archeology, an exhibition of ceramics.

The “Night of Museums" is held under the auspices of the Council of Europe and is organized in parallel with the International Museum Day celebrated by the International Council of Museums (ICOM). Moldova marked the event for the first time in 2006 // Reporter.MD
