Equipment worth 45.000 lei stolen from Chisinau block lifts during two months
The Chisinau Police Department over March 1 and May 1 discovered 38 thefts of equipment from lifts. As a result of the thefts, the municipal Lift Service sustained damage of about 45,000 lei.
According to the Internal Ministry, one of the stealers, Valentin Lipencov, alias “Trahtenberg”, was caught while he wanted to break into a block of flats on Ismail street in Chisinau. He stole lift equipment with the aim of taking the copper out of it. Valentin Lipencov, 21, has criminal records. During investigations, the police established that the man entered the lifts, stole the equipment that contained copper and sold it later for 40 lei per kilogram. Interrogated by the police, the offender admitted his guilt.
