The General Mayor of Chisinau, Dorin Chirtoaca is participating in the first conference of mayors of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE) held in Brussels on May 14-15.

The conference themed “What the European Union Can do for Cities” will be housed by the European Parliament.

According to the press service of the Chisinau City Hall, the General Mayor was invited to the conference by the leader of the ALDE Group in the European Parliament, Graham Watson and by the president of the ALDE Group in the Committee of Regions, Flo Lucas, the last one being also executive member of the Liverpool Council.

On the sidelines of the conference, Dorin Chirtoaca will have meetings with the EU Transport Commissioner Jacques Barrot and the leader of ALDE Group in the European Parliament and the Committee of Regions.

The main topic to be discussed at the conference is the urban public transportation and the responsibilities of the public services. There will be held debates on the subject “The Future of Structural Funds”.
