Moldova will observe International Latinity Day on May 15

Moldova and the other members of the Latin Union celebrate the International Latinity Day on May 15.

Festive concerts and roundtable meetings will be organized in Moldova on the Latinity Day this year. On May, 15 the Cultural Center “Ginta Latina” will host the Gala of Laureates of the international multilingual contest “Latin Dialogue”, starting at 2 p.m.

By tradition, the contest was opened on the Francophony Day and will end on May, 15 on the Latinity Day. This year’s contest brought tighter 100 participants aged between 15 and 18 from Chisinau, Bobeica, Cahul, Causeni.

The Latin Union will provide money awards and diplomas for first five winners. In addition, the first 10 laureates will receive honorable mentions, books, gifts offered by the partner institutions such as the Romanian Embassy in Moldova, the French Alliance, the Francophone University Agency, Cervantes Institute in Bucharest.

Another Laureate Gala organized in cooperation with the Association of New Editors of Moldova and the Association of Romanian Editors will take place on May, 16. The first three winners of the contest “Latin Union’s Prize for Technical and Scientific Translation into Romanian” will get money awards worth 300 to 900 euro. The contest was intended for translators, publishing houses and other institutions of Moldova and Romania.

The international organization Latin Union was founded in 1954 by the Convention of Madrid, which bringstogether 37 states, including Moldova, where the national or official language is of Latin origin. Moldova joined the Latin Union in 1992. // Reporter.MD
