A total of 33 men took a chance to see things from a female perspective this weekend by donning high heels to raise money for an Indiana shelter, officials say.

Mary Williams, head of marketing for the Sheltering Wings shelter in Plainfield, said the 33 brave men earned nearly $7,000 by taking part in the annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event, The Indianapolis Star reported Sunday.

The International Men's March to Stop Rape, Sexual Assault and Gender Violence said on its Web site that Saturday's event marked the 83rd high-heel event in 2008 alone.

All proceeds from the event went to the domestic-abuse shelter, while winners of the event received homemade sashes created by children currently staying at the shelter.

The Star said warrant server Sgt. Brett Clark earned the prettiest sash at the contest thanks to his ability to earn $2,382 in sponsorships and pledges for his high-heeled walk for charity.
