Survey: Moms would make $116,805

A Waltham, Mass., company said it has calculated the average amount of money women would earn annually for Mom jobs, $116,805.

Salary.com said its survey of 18,000 moms asked participants to quantify the hours they spent working each week in the roles of housekeeper, day-care center teacher, cook, laundry machine operator, computer operator, psychologist, facilities manager, van driver, chief executive officer and janitor, Salary.com reported Friday.

The company said it analyzed the survey to determine how much time moms spent in each role and how much they would likely be paid for such a role in the job market. The survey found stay-at-home moms would earn an average $116,805 per year while working moms would earn an average $68,405 for their mom jobs.

Meanwhile, the survey found stay-at-home Canadian moms would earn $125,749. annually and working moms would make $73,608.

Through our mom survey, we've been able to recognize the critical value of what moms do and educate the public on the different factors that determine the compensation of a particular job, said Bill Coleman, senior vice president of Salary.com.
