Tanana ice shifts, guessing game endsA lucky winner is set to receive at least a portion of a $303,895 jackpot for guessing the exact moment the ice on Alaska's Tanana River would break. Contestants fork over $2.50 to take a crack at the 92-year-old guessing game, called the Nenana Ice Classic, the Anchorage (Alaska) Daily News reported Thursday. This year the ice broke at 10:53 p.m. Tuesday but a winner has yet to be announced as workers recheck the 243,776 guesses to be sure of one or more winners, said Amanda Wubbold, an Ice Classic office assistant. Wubbold told the Daily News there was one winner as of Wednesday. She added that if the data holds up, it would mark the first time in more than 10 years that one person won the contest.
