CCEC detains former employee of Ministry of Interior

Officers of the Center for Combating Economic Crime and Corruption (CCEC) detained Former Employee of the Ministry of Interior, 47-year-old Ahndrei Lupasco on suspicion of having taken a bribe in the amount of 1.5 thousand euros.

According to the CCEC, Lupasco was detained at the moment, when he was receiving an advance in the amount of USD300 from a citizen, whom he promised to speed up the issue of documents, certifying personal identity.

A CCEC representative said that in the course of the investigation, initiated on the basis of the citizen’s complaint, it was established that Lupaco asserted that he allegedly had influence on the Chief of the Chisinau municipal documentation department and that the money were designed not only for him, but also for some employees of the Ministry of Information Development.

On April 24, 2008 the victim met Lupasco, who told him that he would facilitate speeding up the issuance of the documents. The victim had to pay an advance to Lupasco in the amount of USD300 to be followed by paying the official 500 lei to a cashier’s office. On April 29 on the crossing of the Miron Costin Street with the Moscow Avenue of the capital city Lupasco was caught red-handed by CCEC officers.

From the beginning of 2008 the Center revealed 71 corruption cases. // Infotag
