The policemen on horses began the activity of patrolling the parks and the entertainment areas of Chişinău, not accessible to vehicles.

Since late last week, the parks, woods and other green sectors of the city are supervised by policemen on horses, Patrol and Sentry Regiment Scut (Shield) Commander Constantin Avornic has said, contacted by BASA-press. “In the last months, the horses were trained and specially prepared for the patrolling period. All of them were vaccined and underwent the veterinary control. The horses are kept in good conditions and their health’s state is satisfactory”, Avornic said. The regulations stipulate that the animals are to receive an alimentation rich in vitamins and the necessary quantity of water during the working hours.

The patrolling of the policemen on horses will last till the weather’s cooling and the first snow. Their activity is likely to be interrupted if, in summer, the temperature goes higher than 35 degrees.

In 2005, the city hall purchased from Ukraine 20 horses. In the cold season, they are housed at the Zoo from Chisinau. // BASA-Press
