Nothing goes exactly as you'd expect it to today, for reasons that defy logic. Don't spend too much time worrying about it, though -- you need to just relax and deal with things as they arise.

The chief of the Tax Office from Sangerei, accused of passive corruption, was acquitted by the first law court

The chief of the Tax Office from Sangerei, Nina Popov, accused in June 2007 of passive corruption and taking advantage of job duties, was acquitted on Monday by the Law Court of Sangerei, DECA-press Agency transmits.

The judge Ion Dandara motivated his decision of acquitting Nina Popov by the fact that the receipt of the sum of one thousand dollars at home from an economic agent doesn't meet the elements of crimes of „passive corruption” and „taking advantage of job duties”.

The indictee Nina Popov declared herself innocent, saying that the sum of money receved at home is not a remuneration for removing the distraint from the real estate of „Gainusa” enterprise. These are the income taxes which this economic agent owes. The woman confessed that such a way of receiving the payment for taxes „is not quite legal”.
In a term of 15 days, prosecutors will examined the decision of the first law court.

It is worth mentioning that, during the investigation of the case, the Service of the Anti-Corruption Prosecution „Nord” put at the disposal of the law court some audio and video evidence, which proves the fact the indictee had received the sum of one thousand dollar in the very car of the economic agents from whom the money had been asked for, as well as the confiscation of money found on a stove from the woman's house. // DECA-Press
