North Carolina Student Eve Carson's Murder

New details emerged Friday on the murder of Eve Carson, a Georgia native and student body president at University of North Carolina.

22-year-old Eve Carson from Athens was found shot to death early Wednesday morning near the campus.   She was shot multiple times, including at least once in the head. The medical examiner says there's no indication she was sexually assaulted.

Carson's body was discovered in the street in a quiet residential neighborhood, located about a half-mile from UNC's campus around 5:00 a.m. Wednesday.  Carson had been shot several times, and investigators suspect it was a random crime.

Investigators discovered Carson's body after neighbors in the area reported hearing shots fired.  Police learned that she was at home a few hours earlier, where she decided to stay and her roommates went out.

Police identified Carson's body was identified Thursday morning.

Carson's death has devastated the UNC campus and hundreds of grieving students gathered to mourn the school's student body president.  Thursday afternoon, students and staff on the UNC campus turned to one another for support.

A video posted on YouTube.com captures Carson in happier times during this year's school induction ceremony as the senior was sworn in as student body president.

Carson was a pre-med student majoring in biology and political science and she was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society.  The promising senior also sat on several campus boards and committees.

Police were initially looking for Carson's vehicle, a blue 2005 Toyota Highlander.  Investigators said they found the car near Franklin Street late Thursday afternoon.  Police said there have been no arrests in the case and there are no suspects.

Carson's tragic shooting, comes just two days after 18-year-old freshman Lauren Burk of Marietta was found shot near Auburn University's campus.  Burk later died from her injuries.  Members of Auburn University's community said they had no idea who could have been responsible for Burk's death.
