Women constitute 20% of the military service personnel of Moldova. It means that there are 1367 women among 6.8 thousand of the militaries.

According to the Ministry of Defense, 376 women serve in the National Army. There are 87 officers, 155 – non-commissioned officers, 134 – soldiers and sergeants among them. More than 1 thousand women work on a contract.

“Almost 70% of women were engaged among leavers of special vocational schools, 14.5% have a higher education in the field of Law, medicine, accounting, psychology and sociology. The main activities of women, working on a contract basis, are medicine, Law, logistics, accounting, topography”, the ministry’s representatives added.

On the occasion of the International Women’s Day many women are decorated with medals În slujba Patriei (On Motherland Service”), Pentru serviciu impecabil (“For Irreproachable Service”) and a sign Militar eminent (“Honored Military”). All the women, working on a contract, received money premiums.  // Infotag
