Only one investor will participate at the privatization of the TV channel from Balti

The local TV channel could be privatized according to the scheme of privatization of the channels of the Chisinau Municipal Council. “Teleradio-Balti” was included in the checklist of objects which are going to be privatized. The voting of this decision generated on Wednesday some disputes in the Balti Municipal Council because of the method of privatization fixed by the Ton Hall, that is by investment contest on the basis of individual project, DECA-press transmits.

The opposition councillors proposed the Balti Municipal Council to create a commission which would analyze the value of the patrimony of SHC “Teleradio Balti” and establish the convenient method of privatization. The proposal was also supported by the Consultative Specialized Commission for economical-financial problems, formed of members of PCRM faction, but within the voting process, the same communist councillors voted against their own proposal.

Required to explain the behaviour of the communist councillor Leonid Babii, chairman of this commission, declared that he had voted against the proposal because this is the way it had been decided at the sitting of PCRM faction. Yet, he considers that they must offer some time for the analysis of the situation and not privatize the institution too quickly.
The president of the opposition faction „Meleag”, Aurel Filip, declared for DECA-press that the privatization of the local TV channel is a normal thing. “For one year and a half, the Town Hall didn’t react to the legislative items adopted in summer 2006, and now, they have suddenly proposed the method of privatization, without offering the councillors the possibility to choose between the method of the individual project and the method of privatization at the Real Estate Exchange, Aurel Filip specified.

The councillor of PPR, Serghei Iordan, considers that the way the local TV channel will be privatized denotes the fact that the PCRM faction is preparing for elections and it has already chosen the person who will become the owner of the television channel recently provided modern equipment from the account of the local budget. // DECA-Press
