Woman trapped for four days in lift in France
Paris (dpa) - An 18-year-old French woman was trapped for four days and three nights in a lift that broke down in her apartment building in Saint-Denis near Paris, local media reported Friday.
According to the daily Le Parisien, the young woman was going out to get bread in the week before Christmas when the lift got stuck between the first and second floors.
The woman's father searched for her everywhere after the building's concierge assured him several times that no-one was in the lift.
"I was hungry and cold, but there was a little light, and I played with my shoes, meditated and slept," the woman said.
She also said she sounded the alarm signal, which the firm responsible for the lift's maintenance however disputes.
She was found suffering from hypothermia by repairmen. Her parents have in the meantime filed charges against the maintenance company. // © 2006 DPA
