Weapons factory explodes
One worker died and 12 more were hurt Tuesday when an explosion occurred at a weapons factory near Rome.
The blast happened when workers at the Simmel Difesa munitions factory at Colleferro poured a flammable potassium-based liquid into a container in the plant's heavy explosives sector, ANSA reported. There were about two dozen workers in the area at the time, the Italian news agency said.
Owned by the British defense company Chemring Group, it employs 200 people making munitions, explosives, missile warheads and rockets. // Copyright 2007 by United Press International
