Iraqi militants have threatened in an Internet video to slit the throat of a German hostage in 10 days if German troops aren't withdrawn from Afghanistan.

In a video known to have been made before July 10, 20-year-old Sinan Krause with his mother, Hannelore, are seen talking. The pair was abducted Feb. 6 in Baghdad and the mother was released July 10 after reportedly agreeing to convert to Islam, Deutsche Welle reported.

"We give the German government another 10 days to withdraw its troops from Afghanistan, otherwise we'll slit (his) throat like a lamb," audio on the Web site said.

Germany has about 3,000 troops in Afghanistan as part of the NATO mission to oust Taliban and al-Qaida militants. The government has said in the past it won't respond to blackmail but Tuesday a spokesman for Germany's Foreign Ministry told the network a crisis team was working on securing Krause's release. // Copyright 2007 by United Press International
