Up to $500 fine for sexual services seekers in Moldova
Those willing to “buy” sexual services in Moldova will be fined with $500. The new regulation was voted today by the Government after an initiative of the Liberal Party. According to the regulation, the persons who will give money for sex or the third party agents who will put in contact the prostitutes with the person wanting to “buy” sexual services will be fined or will be required to provide up to 60 hours of unpaid community service.
The authors of the draft law say that such an enactment will decrease the number of “sexual tourists” coming to Moldova. Another law, which will go into force on July 1, implies chemical castration of all pedophiles.
Moldova seems to be a popular destination for “sexual tourists.” A recent incident shows that five men were sentenced and will stay up to 21 years in prison after they have been caught creating and managing a pedophiles’ network in Moldova.
