Underground Museum in Moldova
By Diana Ungureanu/ Chisinau/ Moldova.ORG/ -- When we talk about Moldova, thoughts often fly to so aromatic wines. I invite you to let your thoughts fly directly to the cool undergrounds, more exactly to the cellars of Branesti.
Why expressly to Branesti? Because they are less known, but as special and beautiful as others, they are nearby of Chisinau (40 km), are placed in a high potential tourist area of the Republic of Moldova and we can visit them at an enough affordable price (from 12 euro for a person).
The cellars of Branesti are located in a splendid forest zone, in the coast of the touristic complex Old Orhei. Underground winery is extended over a distance of 58 km, at a depth of 60m and occupies an area of 75 ha.
Here are arranged two tasting rooms, one of them located in underground. The halls are superbly crafted in wood and metal, reproducing pictures of vine cultivation and wine production.
The trip with tasting offers you the opportunity to enjoy the finest white and red wines and sparkling collection. The proposed cuisine is a traditional Moldavian one, with soup, forcemeat balls, and pies as at Branesti, rabbit stew and other special dishes prepared by skillful chefs.
The underground constant temperature is +11 - +14oC and humidity about 87-92%, which makes the wine keeping in ideal condition. Basvinex S.A. (“plc” of UK) Branesti Cellars are among the top five wineries in the country in volume of export.
