The US Embassy to Chisinau launches a new round of the Small Grant Program
The Embassy of the United States of American announces about the continuation of the Small Grant Program for the support of democratic initiatives for non-governmental and non-profit organizations, as well as for independent means of mass information from Moldova, DECA-press communicates.
According to a press release of the US Embassy to Chisinau, due to the importance of elections from 2009 for Moldova, for the next round, the US Embassy encourages the organizations to elaborate and present project proposals connected with the elections and the electoral processes. They will include projects which deal with such fields as: the development of political parties, the efficient information of the public regarding the voting procedures, as well as the organization of some free and transparent elections.
The commission for the support of democratic initiatives will also take into consideration project proposals which will cover general issues of the Grant Program: civic education; consolidation and promotion of the civil society and democratic institutions; promotion of independent press; access to information, transparency in management; participation of the public in the decision-making process; the institutionalization of some open, pluralist and democratic processes at a local level.
