The service “Mobile signature” launched in Moldova

On September 14th, The Government, together with the Center for Electronic Governance launched a new service, the “Mobile signature”. Now, Moldovan citizens will be able to sign documents remotely.

The Prime Minister Vlad Filat participated at the event and he was the first using this service. The Prime Minister said that the Government took another step to be closer to its citizens and simplify their lives. “The authorities should keep step with new requirements, to be prepared to deal with for requests for electronic documents. In the digital century the interaction between the authorities and citizens can successfully take place in the virtual space. In this way, we avoid corruption, save time and become more efficient”, mentioned Vlad Filat.

Stela Mocan, the Director of the Center for Electronic Governance, specified that the mobile signature could be used at any time and at any distance from the mobile phone in order to obtain, for example, an official act or allowances.

To obtain the mobile signature, the citizen will address to the representatives of mobile operators. The subscribers will fill in a form and will receive a SIM card that contains the mobile signature and a unique code. They will have the possibility to choose a tariff plan and a subscription type.

By the end of 2012, the mobile signature will be provided free of charge by mobile operators. In the future, the service cost will be accessible to citizens, mentions the press release issued by the Government.
