The granting of the Romanian citizenship to Moldova's citizens is one the ways of the Europeanization of the Republic of Moldova, Chief Researcher of the Institute for Political and Foreign Relations of Romania Dan Dungaciu considers.

In the Romanian newspaper he designated the opinion that the acquisition of the Romanian citizenship with the free movement within the European Union may result in a considerable reduction of Moldova's population, as unsubstantiated.

Moldovans, who will receive Romanian passports, will be more confident of their future. No matter, where they work - in view of the country's European prospects they will come back to the motherland in the final end, in order to begin their business and to assure their children's future prosperity, Dungaciu considers.

He does not share the opinion that the conferring of the Romanian citizenship impeded the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict.

"The problematics of granting Romanian passport have practically played no role in the talks from the beginning of the outbreak of the Transnistrian conflict. As soon as Vladimir Voronin came to power with his pro-Russian orientation, the issuance of Romanian passports was blocked, no progress war reached at the talks", the expert recalled.

In his opinion, on the contrary the granting of the Romanian citizenship may become a direct or indirect instrument for the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict.

"Firstly, many Transnistrians would like to acquire the Romanian citizenship, Secondly, if this citizenship is a remedy to modernize Moldova, this process will make the right-bank Moldova more attractive, Dungaciu considers
