The Prut River „floods” Ungheni Town
The citizens of Ungheni could wake up one day with the Prut River in the centre of the town, because year by year, the banks of the river are destroyed, and the abysin of 10-20 metres depth, is approaching the houses.
In some places, this one reached the distance of 8-10 metres from the people's houses, DECA-press communicates.
According to the cadastral engineer of Ungheni Mayoralty, Vladimir Bantiuc, these destructions are due to the hydrologic processes. Before the 90s of the last century, the banks have been consolidated. But, since then, because of the lack of money, the work of consolidation has been stopped. As a result, these landfalls have started again, with much more power and in more accelerated terms.
The danger is real and, if the necessary measures are not take in time, it is possible that several houses be damaged, and a considerable piece of road be destroyed, the vice-mayor Ghenadie Moroi declared in this context.
After an appeal of the mayor of Ungheni, Alexandru Ambros, addressed to the prime-minister Vasile Tarlev, a special commission went to Ungheni and examined the situation. Experts are going to come to the very place and decide what to do next to consolidate the banks of the river. // DECA-Press
