The Information Security Service will check the candidates for public functions
The titulars and candidates for public functions will be checked by the Information Security Service (ISS) as far as the correctness of information presented by them referring to the social status, family incomes, property, studies, citizenship is concerned, DECA-press informs.
This thing is provided in the Law project on the control of titulars and candidates for public functions, published on the site of the Parliament.
According to the law, the control is performed only with the approval of these persons and with the respect of the following principles: legality; respect of human rights; equitable and non-discriminatory treatment of titulars and candidates for public functions.
The authors of the project assert that the control is performed fr the sake of preventing and combating corruption in public authorities' activity; preventing the appointment of persns who are a trhreat for the interests of the national security in public functions; preventing, identifying and excluding factors of risk; establishing the authenticity of information issued by the titulars and candidates for public functions in the documents issued for application for the public function, etc.
The document specifies that factors of risks denote activities which contradict the interests of public function, including situations which cause a conflict of interests; toleration of acts of betrayal of the country, espionage, terrorism, diversity, the replacement of constitutional system or the violation by means of violence of the territorial integrity of Republic of Moldova, direct or indirect propaganda of the war and other extremist activities and others.
Titulars or candidates for public functions will have the right to refuse being checked by ISS, but in this case, they will have the give up their functions.// DECA-Press
