The free use of the rooms of Balti Mayoralty by the Prosecution, SIS and the Ministry of Justice generates disputes among the local councillors

The rent for free of the rooms which belong to Balti Mayoralty by the institutions of the Ministry of Justice, the General Prosecution and the Information Security Service is equivalent to a corruption act. The declaration belongs o the councillor of PPCD, Igor Ciuru in time of the Tuesday sitting of the Municipal Council of Balti, DECA-pres Agency transmits.
„That means that we want to have better relation with those we depend upon. Since we depend upon and are checked by the Prosecution and SIS, offering room for rent for free is a kind of a bribe. We have autonomy in the decision-making process, that is why we could offer the room for rent for a certain sum of money. In this context, we need much money and we could use these funds to solve some problems of the town”, Igor Ciuru added.
At the same time, the councillor Sergiu Strul, elected on the list of the Centrist Union from Moldova, declared he couldn’t understand why the state bureaus, structures subordinated to the Ministry of Justice, uses three rooms from the building of the Balti Mayoralty for free. „I would understand this decision if these Bureaus received smaller tariffs from citizens than the private Bureaus. Since the tariffs are equal, why shouldn’t they pay the Ministry of Justice for the rent for the busy rooms?”, the local elected councillor declared.
The chief of the Juridical Section of Balti Mayoralty, Tatiana Curteanu, replied the revolted councillors that, according to the legislation, the local authorities are obliged to offer free rooms to the decentralized institutions, which are financed from the national budget. // DECA-Press
